This week I did my debate on Tuesday and had 3 days to work on other stuff. My debate went pretty well, but I dont feel like we did as good as we could have. Our score was 21 to 14 us being 21, so it wasn't a horrible debate, but I know we could do better by having more confidence in what we were saying and making our solution better. I am going to continue to work on making my debate better just in case we do it live on exhibition. Matt gave us a handout that listed all of the things we had to have done by the end of the semester. Annika and I looked over the list and began to split things up. She finished the edits to the poster and had it reviewed by Matt while I worked on the edits for the essay. It took me a while to do all of the citations for the essay, but I eventually got it done. I still need to finish Friday Night Lights, check in with more groups for the event planners, edit my debate for exhibition and watch democracy now. This week I wasn't as focused as I should be. I got distracted a lot, but next week I am going to try to stay on task more.

This week Natalie, Annika and I worked on finalizing our debate speeches. We already had our essays typed and parts done, but a lot of things needed to be edited. We read our parts and timed them, then we had my aunt edit everything. When she was done we had to re due and fish a lot of things which was very stressful, but we got it done rather quickly which was very exciting. We worked on making our posters and had to re due the text on it a ton, because there was to much and it made the poster looked cluttered. We didn't fully finish the poster, but we are a lot closer to what we were at the beginning of the week. I also checked in with three groups to make sure then were prepared for their debate and if they needed help I did my best to help them. Overall this week was really stressful, but I got a lot done. My goals for next week is to continue to working on my poster and practice my debate. I also need to read more Friday Nigh Lights and do my Chemistry blog.
This week I started out in my opinion very strong. My group and I finished our project and continued to get our essay critiqued several times. We started a new article on John Rawls theory of equality and did a reading log. I started Friday Night Lights which I am reading really slowly, but at least I started. I think I did pretty well with contributing to the seminar. I met my goal which was being able to directly involve someone. I also help someone meet their goal. I think that this wasn't the best one we've had and I lost interest, but it also wasn't the worst. Something I should improve on and a future goal for myself is, FINISH STRONG! I got a little ahead of myself and by the end of the week I started to slow down. Next week I want to stay consistent through the whole week and not get distracted. I am at a really good place with my grades and want to keep going on the same track I am. I mainly worked alone this week which I really liked, I do pretty well independently cause I don't have to worry about anyone else other then myself and whether or not I am getting my work done.
This week a lot of the work I did was for my sports group. We also did a annotation for a text as well as reading logs and a seminar. For my sports group I worked on the calendar that directs my group on our schedule for the week. I worked on the interview questions for Mike Strong as well as the other teaches/athletes and students/runners. We did 3 interviews for the documentary and some research on the annual pay of professional athletes . I feel like I worked with my peers okay. My group has kind of been arguing a lot lately, but nothing that is to serious or will affect our work. For the text we learned about Kent's theory to morality. This was a pretty interesting topic, but it was also really confusing. Looking back on this week I wish I would have put a little more effort into my project, as well as been more organized in what my group needs to be doing to stay on task. Next week my goal is to stay on task and get distracted and talk to people less. I am really excited to see the end result of this project, and really hope to make it as best as I can.
This week we went to Balboa Park and looked at The Hall of Champions. I thought it was pretty cool how a lot of the different areas had some really cool artifacts like, a sailing boat and gear from the San Diego Chargers. They were even some good ideas we could use for our exhibition, like the T.V. screens and the pictures that created the backboard. I had a lot of fun exploring Balboa Park with my friends and learning about all kinds of different historic events. Something that I didn't like was the football area of the museum had only information on the Chargers. I feel like they should have put more of a variety of football teams so we could have been more exposed to the way different teams work and had more examples to look at.
Another thing we worked on this week was our libertarian article. I liked his one way more then the other articles. We didn't have to write a reflection which for me was a relief, because I was really tiered of writing them. We did our mini groups and Socratic seminar which both went really well. I think they where one of our better ones. Most people participated and I felt really good about how much I participated. It was an interesting text so I feel like it kept most people engaged. We also made French toast to support our class name "The French Toast Mafia" This week I did more reading, annotating, reading logs, seminars and just pretty much the normal routine on the articles we receive. To be completely honest I am really not interested in any of the work we are doing. I hate that we aren't doing anything other then reading articles that are in my opinion pretty boring. I want to be doing stuff that has more to do with free writing or just anything that doesn't consist of me doing absolutely nothing that is not gonna benefit my project. I'm not really sure how to make my experience better and help myself get more out of my class time, but I want to make that a personal goal for next week. We haven't really worked with partners this week it has mostly just been individual work and I hope to more next week. I feel like this was not my strongest week and I spent most of it highly irritated.
This week I spent most of my time reading annotation and writing reflections on texts that were given. Honestly this week for me met very little, because I don't feel like I am engaged in the work we are doing. I feel like reading a bunch of text is not the way to learn about things. We started to learn about women's rights and the civil war. We did this by reading a bunch of articles and filling out worksheets. I would have rather done an assignment were I was writing my own protest or something that I feel strongly about that needs to change in today's world. Something that I am beginning to learn from being in this class is how to interact with people that I would not normally.
This week I worked on both writing articles and my magazine cover. I spent a lot of time critiquing and analyzing to prepare for the seminar. I feel pretty proud of the amount of effort I put into my work this week. I refreshed my memory on doing certain things on illustrator that I forgot about. I worked really well with Annika and Natilie this week. I also feel like I learned a lot and developed better understandings of the text from Noah. Next week I hope to continue getting my work done on time and continue having a good understanding on what we are doing in class.
