Overview The point of this project was to learn the different ways athletes impact society, good or bad. We were able to work in a group and decide on an athlete we would like to research. Annika and I chose Mike Strong, an athlete who ran in college, but is now a freshman teacher at High Tech High. We chose this person, because we both felt strongly that athletes need to contribute more to society and are often times looked up to for the wrong reasons. We wanted a person that didn't dedicate himself to sports, but also helping people or a bigger picture.
Growth During this project I think I grew the most by working outside of my comfort zone. My group decided to create a documentary and I had never made one, nor was I very computer savvy. I was able to learn how to use imovie and edit clips. I think that another skill that I also expanded on was working with people and dividing up work. Annika had to do most of the video editing, because the school wifi wasn't working very well, so she had to take it home and work on it.
Reflection: I am most proud of trying new things, and working through problems. During this project I feel like we had a lot of things we had to figure out such as internet problems, lack of communication and time management. We definitely did not have as much time as we expected to put together the documentary and get all of the interviews, but we managed to get it all done and I felt very accomplished
